Broncos Beat The Raiders

Na-na, Na-na, Na-ner!
Alright, now that that burst of immaturity is out of the way.
At first yesterdays game didn't look like it was going to be something I could stand to watch all the way through. My boys looked sluggish, they did. My husband threatened to give up and throw on a different game, but that would of course be shameful, so we did no such thing.
And thank goodness for patience. Here is what happened in Oakland.

An 85 yard punt return from Eddie Royal was the tie-breaking score. Willis McGahee ran for 163 yards. He had a 60-yard touchdown run that tied the game, and a 24 yarder to make things clear.
We held back the Raider's offense through the 4th quarter, not allowing them to do any more damage. The final score was 38-24 for the Broncos in Oakland.

And so, with Tim Tebow as starting QB we have now won two of three games. Tebow played a good running game but used his arm enough to keep Oakland earning their keep, airing out TD's to Eric Decker and Willis McGahee. He rushed for 117 yards on 12 carries and I guess it never became neccessary, because I didn't see him on bended knee once.

You might have guessed I have something to say about this whole Tebowing business.

Plainly, simply, it really bothers me, that his demonstration of faith has been news worthy. Since when are athletes not visibly religious out on the field or ice or wherever they flex. If I had a nickle for every time I've seen a ball player cross himself, I'd be sitting pretty. I do not understand, why the media made an issue over the praying in the first place, but more over, why everyone, fans included, ran with it. Tones both derogatory, and endorsing, have been used to voice the term "Tebowing". Now, I am not even a religious person, per se, but re-naming the act of 'prayer' after a football player seems a little sacriligious, don't you think?

Anyway, all restored faith in Tebow aside, Im so glad we beat the Raiders, that I found this fab decal pictured here at http://broncosarebest.blogspot.com and I am joining this blog today!
GO-O-O-O BRONCOS!!!

Tebow- The Last Minute Man Or Come Back Guy?

So there you have it. The Broncos just won a football game in Miami for the first time ever. The longest streak in the league for at least getting a score on the board is still in tact. But it sure came close, didn't it. And not before the boredom almost killed us patient Broncos fans.

I'll admit it, I went ahead and had a shower somewhere near the middle of the 4th. I knew I'd hear the cheering if I missed something and to be honest I was feeling an urge to remove my blue and orange. And as luck would have it I missed nothing because we were 41 minutes in to the game before anything happened out there and I was wearing my I Love Broncos hat again long before the game stopped sucking.

But then, Tebow got good looking again.
I heard about that comedian guy,  John Oliver, saying he full on hates Tim. Hates him for thanking God before his offensive linemen. Surely, Tebow is grateful for the rest of the team as well, but that's what religious athletes do... they thank God. Has he never heard of this before? Seriously? Does he hate religious people in general?

I think he may have multiple reasons for loathing Tim.

Not to stereotype Mr. Oliver, and not that I don't find the funny bookish type attractive, nor am I particularly 'in' to jock types for that matter (never have been) but if this were junior high, which one of these guys would envy the other? I am sorry to say, Mr. Oliver, that I would have expected the moronic making fun to come from the jock, and not vice versa. I gotta say. Usually, funny is more my type than God fearing. But this time, it's a toss up. How sad is that?

Anyway, back to football.

If it was drama the Broncos were looking for, this football game had a crappy first act, but in the end Tim Tebow was the star. I mean carrying the score tying ball over into the end zone himself? That's a come back with pizzazz, is what that is! (And I almost never ever use the word pizzazz.)  Yes, Tebow had his time in the spotlight today, but lets not forget the unexpected best supporting actor. Who the heck is Fells?? Well, I'm sure I don't know, and when I'm done writing this i am totally going to Google him, but before I go, I just wanted to say YEAH BRONCOS!!!!!
Oh, and Tim. We all saw you praying that the kick was good, and it's more than likely that Mr. Oliver was grateful for the additional material for his next roast of you, but I for one am thinking that if you get God rooting for the Denver Broncos, well, it sure couldn't hurt.

Why The Broncos Will Win This Sunday In Miami

My Predictions For Week 7 Denver @ Miami

.

Using the old silly factors I like.
In case you missed my blog entitled Picks where I explained all this silliness
1.Quarterback hotness - a score out of ten. 2. Team mascot battle winner. and 3. (the tie breaker) Jersey colour strength. Sometimes I may also consider that one team is just way better, or I might factor in home/ away. And if it's anyone against the Raiders, usually I'll bet against the Raiders just out of pure malice

QB Hotness First

Denver Tim Tebow 8/10 (maybe 9 depending on the pic)

Miami Chad Henne 6/10 ( Sorry Dude)

Next, if they fought which animal would win?

Obviously a Horse can kick a Dolphins ass on a field, but a Dolphin is better at swimming. Hmmm. Dolphins are pretty smart as well, but they don't have a very strong work ethic, always flipping around splashing and such. I say the Bronco wins. Seeing as how they'll be playing on a field and not in an aquarium.

For this next part, Whos Colour is Stronger, thank-you www.color-wheel-pro.com

Denvers Away colour is Indigo Blue

"Dark blue represents knowledge, power, integrity, and seriousness. Blue is a masculine color; according to studies, it is highly accepted among males. Dark blue is associated with depth, expertise, and stability; it is a preferred color for corporate America. Blue is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. Beneficial to the mind and body, it slows human metabolism and produces a calming effect and is frequently used to symbolize piety and sincerity.

Miami's At Home Colour is Agua Green/ Teal Green. I couldn't find precisely their color info but I tried.

Aqua is associated with emotional healing and protection. Dark green is associated with ambition, greed, and jealousy.Green has great healing power. It is the most restful color for the human eye; it can improve vision. Green suggests stability and endurance. Sometimes green denotes lack of experience; for example, a 'greenhorn' is a novice. In heraldry, green indicates growth and hope. Green, as opposed to red, means safety; it is the color of free passage in road traffic.

Well, it's never a clear cut thing but I think Denver has the advantage here, even if the Dolphins are at home. Especially when Miami is tooting Tebow's horn at half time for the Heisman Trophy. Not exactly a confidence crusher. Yes, I think the Broncos will trample the Dolphins and leave them dead in the water.  I of course could be just a little bit biased.

Picks

Football. *Sigh*
Up until this week, I've been crunching numbers every week. stacking up stats from a handful of different sites, charting them, and very systematically playing my Pro Line ticket accordingly. I've been doing pretty OK with this, getting 12 of 16 games for Pools for example, but not OK enough.
Usually I'll get something wrong in the one o'clock game too, so then the hope is gone and I wind up a little grumpy. I mean, all that effort, and then what do I have left? Football games but with no drinking (cause Im nursing), interrupted by quick Toopy And Binoo breaks (parents will understand that one), and trying to lay off the tailgate type food smelling so good in my kitchen (so as to lose the baby weight).
No fair right?
So this week, I reverted to the use of my old stats of choice. Once upon a time I played in some pools basing my bets only on three things. 1.Quarterback hotness - a score out of ten. 2. Team mascot battle winner. and 3. (the tie breaker) Jersey colour strength. Sometimes I may also consider that one team is just way better, or I might factor in home/ away. And if it's anyone against the Raiders, usually I'll bet against the Raiders just out of pure malice.
Any way, this was a way more fun exercise for figuring out picks. My husband even enjoyed it. Actually, he thinks I'm on to something about the hotness of QB. I mean look at Tom Brady, Brett Farve, John Elway, Dan Marino, Joe Montana....these men all score a good 8/10 by any standards. So, shallow as it may seem, I think that hotness should be a prerequisite (or at least a consideration) for all quarterbacks. If the organisations want to be all PC about it and make the decisions discreetly - fine. What do you think bar and restaurant owners do?? (Some resumes just end up in the circular filing cabinet, you know.) I mean what's the worst that could happen. A QB plays really badly but looks really good doing it. Fine. I wouldn't exactly be a first :)
